Art A Way to Relax

  By Asian Zodiac, year 2020 is the Year of Rat. This set of souvenir stamps is to celebrate Year of Rat in 1996 before I was born! This set consists of 2 stamps, first one at the bottom you can see the year 1996 on the bottom left. On the bottom right, (2-1) T is a 20 cents stamp with a cute mouse design. The second stamp (2-2) T is a face value 50 cents stamp and in the middle there is a huge Chinese character Rat. It is a very cute design. 

  This is a huge jade sculpture of animal Pixiu I saw in Beijing Arts and Crafts Exhibition. It is very valuable. I wish I can buy it back and put in my house. Why? This Pixiu by Chinese culture is a very lucky animal with a head like a dragon and a body like a lion. If you put in your house right hand side, it can help you get rid of all the evil things and brings you good luck and big fortune. It gives your house the best fengshui you can ever get. Of course, a beautiful art craft! 

  This bridge is located in one of my favorite royal gardens Summer Palace in Beijing. I took this picture when I visited. It has the history of more than 300 years. As you can see from the picture, it has 17 arch. It has already experienced earthquakes and floods but still in good condition. I not only admire it's beautiful design but also its construction structure. 

  Do you know what is this building? The 5 characters on the black board is Starbucks Coffee in Chinese. I was attracted by the design when I traveled to Beijing last year. Very different from our American Starbucks Coffee Shop. This is how our Starbucks Coffee Shop look like in China. I hope you enjoy it! 

 

 

The title of this stamp is called Preparing Silk. It was issued on August 2013. This is a Ancient Chinese painting showing how women prepare silk in those days. I collect stamps because I love the art design, I also realized that it is a very good hobby - it can calm down myself and also make me become more patient and more focused. It is very rewarding. I hope enjoy my posting. 

This beautiful artwork consists of 6 stamps which shows 6 kinds of rare birds in China. It was issued in April 2008. This artwork is a meticulous painting. I really like the beautiful colors used by the artist. Of course, it is very valuable to keep the whole set as the way it is. If you need a postage to a mail a letter, you never use this kind of souvenir stamp. This is for collection. I want to know if you like it.

This stamp is a famous Chinese artist Mr. Huang Binhong's artwork. China Stamp Agency issued a set of natural landscape painting stamps in 1996 to memorialize the famous artist Mr. Huang. Unfortunately I only collect one of the 6-stamps set. I was attracted by the beautiful landscape at my first glance. The artist used brush, black ink and Chinese calligraphy strokes to create a luxuriant natural scenery. The face value (when my grandma purchased it) was 20 cents in Yuan. And now of course the value is multiplied. As you see, stamp collection is really a rewarding hobby. I would love to see your comments on this beautiful stamp.

This is a souvenir sheetlet. It is issued by Hong Kong in the year of 1997 to celebrate Chinese Lunar Year of the Ox. Artist used four gestures of the Ox to show the festive atmosphere of traditional Chinese New Year in Hong Kong. The bright color of the four stamps represents good luck and big fortune, the two bunches of wheat by the sides represents big harvests in the Year of the Ox. This souvenir stamp tells me everything about the tradition in Hong Kong. I hope you enjoy it!

  Stamp collection is one of my hobbies since it is really art related. When I went to Beijing China to visit my grandma, she gave me a whole set of stamps as my birthday gift. I just realized that from one stamp I can learn a lot of things! Of course, the first thing I noticed is the art design, history and culture, even historical events. This stamp is older than me. It was issued before I was born in the year 1996. This design is Dunhuang Murals- Buddha with a thousand hands. On the stamp you can see that the stamp's face value is only 500 cents in Yuan (about $0.8), but it becomes extremely valuable now. I truly admire the beautiful design. I would say that this not only a beautiful souvenir stamp but also a religious art. Dunhuang is a world cultural heritage. Those artists who designed this stamp "invited" the artwork from the wall of the cave to the paper. I hope you enjoy this beautiful artwork!
